The Interstate Compact for Social Work Licensure is gaining traction across the country and will be “live” by Spring 2027 — but many social workers still have questions, concerns, and even confusion about what it is and what it isn’t. In this session we’ll explore the Compact’s development, its current status, and what it means for your day-to-day practice. We’ll dig into key topics like licensure requirements, ethical practice across state lines, CEU obligations, and discuss how the Compact intersects with culturally responsive and gender-affirming care. This session is designed to be an open, honest conversation—so bring your questions, your concerns, and your curiosity.
About the speaker: Dr. Karen E. Goodenough, PhD, MSW, LGSW (she/her), known as Dr. KG, is Executive Director of NASW - MN & ND and a national leader in social work licensure policy.
