Becoming a Social Worker
A social worker is someone who has a bachelor's, master's or Ph.D in
social work from an accredited school of social work. For someone to
become a professional social worker, they must get a degree in social
work.
The Council on Social Work Accreditation (CSWE) is the governing
body that accredits schools of social work. To find a listing of
schools accredited by CSWE, go to http://www.cswe.org and click on
"accredited programs." It is very important to choose a school of social
work that is CSWE accredited in order to become licensed to practice
social work.
